Alternating Current(AC)

Alternating current(AC) is a movement of electric charge that changes polarity(negative to positive or vice versa) in a periodic manner. Commonly it is in a form of a sine wave.

Production of an AC depends upon the geometry and design of the generator.
See basic concepts of AC.

Nowadays, AC can also be produced from DC using an electronic inverter.
AC is the form of power that reaches our houses. It is made so because of many advantages of this form of power during its transmission and distribution. One of these advantages is the minimal power loss as compared to DC. And all available power transformers can only be used using an AC supply.
