Distribution lines are part of power systems that includes power conversion from a primary source, typically 4kV to 34.5kV, down to a lower voltage that is supplied to power consumers. A simple set-up is that this type of lines leaves a primary substation through a line called feeder lines to another small capacity transformers called distribution transformers to be converted to a lesser voltage level of about 120V to 480V of either a residential or industrial consumer.
Distribution lines practically starts from the low voltage side of a primary distribution substation and ends at the service entrance of the every power costumers just right before their meter sockets. This include cables, distribution transformers, poles, line hardwares, and and switching mechanisms. Voltage level varies depending on the total power of a certain area and to their practiced and accepted standards.
